PT1: September 1920, the Vatican appoints Father Arno Moriani, the ‘’Devil’s Advocat’’, to scrutinize a potential candidate for sainthood in Transylvania: Martha Calugarul, who lived in the fine town of Vladoviste. While staying at the village inn, Father Arno meets divers interesting people : Ozana, the inn keeper; Janos Pekmester, a teacher at Alba Lula University; Maria Florescu, the medical practitioner who has replaced Martha at the dispensary; and Stephan Luca, a journalist. After audience revelations about strange creatures called “vampires”, Father Arno’s mission changes: he is to search out those monsters coming from the Romanian folklore to demystify them. Continuing his mission, Father Arno decides to follow the recondite “Path of the Dragon”, which leads him to Turkey. After investigating in experienced Turkish prisons, Father Arno understands in his dreams that he has able the first trials. He is on “the Path”. Back in Vladoviste, Father Arno meets Irina Boczow to eclaircize his projects. Conscious that “the Path of the Dragon” is self-same risky, Irina asks Father Arno to come and meet her again in Budapest to help him prepare this tough task. But whereas he arrives, Father Arno discovers Irina’s dead body…
